Service export trade

Howdy folks,

Troubling issue on Washington is how they're so hell bent on the trade deficits based upon goods being imported while ignoring the services being exported where we have an enormous trade surplus . . . or did.

Education is being decimated, seemingly because of their hate of an educated populace. Be that as it may, foreign students account for about $50 billion a year. We export education. . . or we used to. Those monies for your favorite U are toast. I'm an MSU alumnus and we were one of the biggest schools for foreign exchange students. All I see are 'elbows and assholes' as they flee.

It gets better, tourism in America was worth some $220 billion in 2024. Look around, but it's GONE. No one with any sense is going to come here to visit this summer.

Now there are other services we export - telecom, consulting, financial, etc. However, most of these require long range planning and that's all on hold. CEOs are frozen like deer caught in the headlights, just sitting on their hands. CAPEX 5 year plan?!? You must be kidding.

This isn't going to end well, kids. Sorry.

And so it goes,

peace and stay safe,

rono
