Buying small stake today in PRMTX with expectation I'll dump her day before election or sooner if she runs up enough. Buying from Price directly, I note no early redemption fee on this this one. A few articles on making lemonade out of lemons ...
On a serious note, Telecom/Media is an interesting way to play. On a more serious note, trying not to think of all the good things that $6B could go towards instead of campaign spending. Upsetting. oy.
Reply to @catch22: Very interesting, catch. Paul's my rep in WI - has been for 14 yr. I see he banks at a small bank that was established in his (our) district - Johnson Bank. He shares many funds/investments that many of us do. Artisan is local, as is Air Products. Interesting that I hold the same accounts within Edvest as he does. Thanks for sharing, as I wouldn't have searched for this info.
Nasty storm. Wide area. Gonna be wet there anyway you dice it. Umbrellas & boots should sell well. (Hope PRMTX holds TWC. Ratings should be off the charts over next 10 days.)
Reply to @scott: THANX Scott ... (for the benefit of others) As a profit-making entity TWC "lives and dies" by events like this. Ratings (viewership) multiply many times over, compared with more hum-drum days. Translates into big increase in advertising revenue. An odd paradox that what causes misery for so many means profits for some. Recall NBC picked them up few years ago - and dutifully "plugs" TWC during their evening news.
Whew, had to read the subject again. For a minute I thought you might begin to write about congress.............An odd paradox that what causes misery for so many means profits for some.
Reply to @catch22: Spent lota time in & around Tampa. Underrated area IMHO. Fine people. Near Clearwater. However - damned if I'd plan a get-together there in middle of hurricane season. Yep - very nice up north. Off to mow some grass. Take care.

Ya, I thought so, too. Have not bothered with the %'s; but from a fast look, almost a kinda balanced portfolio, eh?
Take care,

Here's link from Bloomberg addressing economic issues. Mentions orange juice futures & gulf oil production. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-08-22/isaac-may-become-caribbean-sea-hurricane-tomorrow-center-says.html
*** Not to make light of a potentially devastating & life-threatening situation. Our hearts are with people in the affected areas.
Edited to add: Yep, NBC, Bain and Blackstone bought Weather Channel in July 2008 (nice top tick buy, much like Blackstone's Hilton buy.)
