Men allegedly stole cooking grease from Quincy eatery

Police are looking for two suspects who allegedly stole cooking grease from a Quincy restaurant to sell for biodiesel fuel purposes.

According to Police, the employees at Café Pacific were closing up at around 4:54 a.m. on June 2 when they heard noises coming from the rear of the building.

When they went to check out what the noises were coming from, they saw two males in an unmarked car siphoning grease from the containers. Employees said the restaurant sells the grease to be converted into diesel fuel.

  • Yes, this is not an isolated incident. Quite common here in California. Evidently the cooking grease can be disposed of profitably, with no questions asked, much the same as copper removed from "vacant" houses and even, in some cases, from active utility lines.
  • Very disturbing. I wonder what they did with the leftover chowder...

Isn't there a "Simpsons" episode where Bart and Homer steal grease?

Edited to add: yep - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lard_of_the_Dance
