    6:17AM Alcoa and Russia's VSMPO-AVISMA to form JV to manufacture titanium and aluminum products for aircraft manufacturers (AA) 8.60 : Co and Russia's VSMPO-AVISMA, the world's largest manufacturer of titanium ingots and forged products, have agreed to join forces to meet growing demand for high-end titanium and aluminum products for aircraft manufacturers worldwide. Once formed, the joint venture will combine Alcoa's expertise in manufacturing value-add products with VSMPO-AVISMA's global leadership in titanium production to manufacture high-end aerospace goods, such as landing gear and forged wing components, at Alcoa's plant in Samara.

    Alcoa far surpassed the industry in share price growth, followed by Century Aluminum (CENX_) which gained 8.1%, Aluminum Corp of China (ACH_) up 3.7%, Australia-based producers BHP Billiton (BHP_) and Alumina Limited (AWC_) climbing 3.2% and 2.4% respectively, and Noranda Aluminum Holding (NOR_) 4.7% higher. Kaiser Aluminum (KALU_) lagged the group, gaining 0.94%.\

    Alcoa joins Russian company in aerospace venture
    Alcoa (AA +7.5%) joins Russia's VSMPO-AVISMA, the world's largest manufacturer of titanium ingots and forged products, in a joint venture to meet demand for high-end titanium and aluminum products for aircraft manufacturers worldwide.The two companies will work together to make aerospace goods at Alcoa's plant in Samara, Russia; manufactured products will include landing gear and forged wing components.The JV is expected to be up and running by 2016; financial terms are not disclosed.

    Investment management firm FinEx Group and the Moscow Exchange said they had launched Russia's first gold-backed exchange-traded fund as part of a bid to turn Moscow into an international financial centre.
