  • Reply to @lrwilliams: You are welcome! My reply is brought to you in memory of Unca Lou Rukeyser, who detailed this plan in his newsletter many years ago. I don't think he thought of it as a 'loophole'; I believe he merely thought of it as 'smart planning'. The kids paid their taxes, once and for all, converted the original trad IRAs to Roths at a pittance, and if after 24 years the oldest has 150 K, well, thanks, Lou. I think he really had a heart for the Average...uh, sorry OJ:).
