F.D.A. Firings Hit Teams That Review Medical Device Safety

Following are excerpts from a current report in The New York Times:
F.D.A. cuts: The Food and Drug Administration is believed to have lost about 700 of its 18,000 employees in job cuts, including hundreds whose roles were funded by industry fees, not taxpayers. Some small teams were hit so deeply that staff members fear the safety of some medical devices could be compromised. The teams affected include those that assess the brain-implant technology in Elon Musk’s Neuralink devices.
