Stocks Churn in Final Minutes of Big Options Day

edited September 20 in Other Investing
If some of your holdings behaved oddly today, this article re the big options expiration might help explain. The dollar seemed to strengthen dramatically. Trying to understand that one. Bond funds appeared to be in “Nowhere Land” - some up and some down slightly. So the dollar reacted to something other than rates. “Fed Speak” maybe?

  • I read the thing. Thanks, hank. I still don't understand the mechanics of this Triple Witching stuff. But, OK. My stuff was up nicely yesterday, but hit the skids today. Best performers today were ........... JUNK BONDS--- which were just FLAT. And my oil/gas midstream stock was up by .03 cents today, while almost everything else fell into the crapper--- esp. my regional bank, BHB.

Markets don't go up in a straight line. Looking ahead, I'll be adding in small bites to BHB and ET and my MMF, which as of last night was yielding 5.09%, down from 5.13%.
