  • As an Alaska Airlines flyer since the mid 1960's I think this is a terrible acquisition. Hawaiian is a poorly run airline with the wrong fleet. Alaska is mostly Boeing and Hawaiian is not. I remember the problems Alaska had integrating Virgin with it's different fleet. Owning Alaska stock is a no touch for me.
  • I've been on Hawaiian just twice. Not very impressed. Not horrible, just nothing to write home about. The merged company will keep both separate brand labels. This will give AK a huge step into the Pacific and Oceania. I really have enjoyed my times riding on AK. Ya, in terms of the stock, I would not go near it now--- until at least when everything shakes out and they got it all organized.

Hawaiian, of course, loves the fact that there are no water ferries between the islands, except between the small community on Lanai and Maui. Twice a day. I think it's ridiculous to have to fly, just to go 40 or 50 or 60 miles, whatever it is--- over to Kauai from Oahu. The Big Island is further, about 200 miles. Flying to the Big Island makes a little bit of sense.
