Employees overworked at Nvidia - Bloomberg

edited August 26 in Other Investing
A snippet from my Bloomberg feed FWIW

”Nvidia stock has gained 3,776% since the start of 2019 as the company benefits from selling the main chip necessary for artificial intelligence. It’s been minting many new multimillionaires in the process. But work hours at the company are grueling and high-stress, current and former employees said, leaving little time for jet-setting, homebuying or leisure many can now afford. Nvidia has a brewing culture problem, they warn.”

  • Currently, more people from other Mag 5 are looking to work at Nvidia than Nvidia employees looking to work at other Mag 5.
  • I lived that life during Dot Com working for one of the most critical internet companies. It was an absolute blast of an experience that thankfully I'm still reaping benefits from as we changed the world back then. But would I work for Big Tech today? Probably not....the industry changed, and I really question the nature of Big Tech's HR policies/procedures.

Agree HR in the Bay Area has become a power hogger and that is the best department by far to work in.
  • Working hard and long hours in IT helps you in the long run...or...you can just be lazy and cry later why you didn't make the big bucks.
Of course, you can be lucky and do well.
I decided after about 12 years that I would never work more than 40-45 per week in IT and I did it at over 90-95%.
All my efforts went to investing...and it worked.
