Encryption software

Hello,

Windows 11 Home edition Laptop> Looking for an encryption software (file/directory/USB drive) - technically challenged in this area.

  • I can't offer any insight into use of such software; but if you have not checked forums and related; this LINK offers a broad base of sites for reference. Old and trusted sites for guidance for me would include PCMagazine and CNET. I would also check the Microsoft listed. Scroll through the choices.
    Any encryption software/system should also need an 'electronic unlock key' that would require safe storage, perhaps as a written set of numbers/letters. Be sure to read more about this feature, as needed.

  • Make two copies of the files on two separate drives for redundancy. If the software gets corrupted on one drive, you will have the second drive to fall back on. Also write down your PIN and store it in a safe place. Keep good record on where everything are and you should be ok.
