Nicolas Darvas convinced me of the power of momentum when I was 14 years old back in 1961. Trouble was, it took me until 1985 to finally implement it profitably in a manner that was suitable for me.
The AQR momentum funds have not done well enough to sell me on them - other momentum strategies may work great, but not seeing funds that are impressing me.
M. Faber's GTAA is a trend-following etf that's also been underwhelming, clocking in toward the bottom of the mod allocation category (bottom 80-90%) in various time periods since kickoff.
Reply to @AndyJ: There's also the Toews funds and I think a couple Forward funds. GTAA definitely has been a disappointment. The Rydex L/S commodity managed futures fund that I thought used to be good for a trade or two has turned into a disaster.
