GQG Partners Makes Official Bid for Pacific Current Group

Pacific Current Group owns stakes in several boutique fund managers.
Its major shareholder, River Capital, does not support the GQG Partners' transaction.

  • This is weird. Or else I'm confused. Didn't Pacific Current Group help start GQG when the CIO Rajiv Jain first spun out of Vontobel? I believe the CEO Carver used to work at Pacific Current Group, and as part of funding the spin out of GQG, joined GQG to be CEO.

    Now they want to buy Pacific Current Group? That's like an affiliate of AMG...buying AMG. Is this a weird way for Carver to make money? Maybe he still has ownership in PCG?
