Mr. Jain made several large portfolio moves which have worked out well (at least in the short-term). His firm/funds were previously on my radar. Some of his funds (not familiar with all) had very favorable risk/reward characteristics. My main concern is the significant key-person risk associated with Mr. Jain.
Mr. Jain uses a momentum strategy investing in the hot sectors/ stocks. When he is spot on oil producers when oil prices are rising, then the switch quickly to the next hot area. Not the kind of manager I want to invest in for the long term especially in volatile environment.
