I don’t celebrate it any more. In my first teaching job at a small Catholic school in northern Michigan (late 60s) many of the “lay” staff eagerly awaited it. Great bunch to work with. We’d head for a local pub within walking distance right after work. Most of the guys and 1 or 2 of the gals. St. Patrick’s Day often heralded the beginning of spring as the last remaining snow melted and the sun began to poke through the clouds.
I did not fail to listen to my favorite, rocked-up version of the traditional Irish "Toss The Feathers" by the fabulous family band of 3 sisters and their brother, named Corr.
Thus: "The Corrs."
I was invited to the Elks Lodge to watch the basketball. Gonzaga men beat Grand Canyon, but the women got crucified by Ole Miss. The men play Sunday vs. TCU. And i enjoyed--- appropriately enough--- a double Jameson's.
