Think he is there to show the continuing support for Ukraine and to reassure NATO. He is heading to Poland. All former European bloc countries (except for Hungary) are supporting Ukraine because Putin want to rewrite the failed history of the Warsaw Pact.
We know Iran is supporting Putin's military and there may be few more (North Korea and others). Now China may cross that line and that can get really messy fast.
