How Stock Market Circuit Breakers Work

edited September 2022 in Other Investing
This year’s sell off appears to be picking up steam - if one considers the number of “down” days compared to “up” days. That said, with the S&P off only 2% at noon today, we’re a long way off from seeing the circuit breakers kick-in. So, enjoy the ride.

Edit: At 3 PM the S&P was down about 3%.

“Level 1: A drop of 7% from the prior day's closing price of the S&P 500 triggers a 15-minute trading halt. Trading is not halted if the drop occurs at or after 3:25 p.m. ET. ”

TROW is at $105.50 now, having peaked at $223 less than a year ago. EGads!
