Boebert is perhaps best known for her gun-rights advocacy and said this summer that Jesus had been killed by Romans because he didn’t have enough assault rifles “to keep his government from killing him.”
Dingbats, maybe. Extremely dangerous fanatics, for sure.
I remain with Ron Reagan; and especially when religion is perverted into the political side of life for nothing less than total power and control. Remains a most odd aspect of a Christian belief.....my pondering ever since being a young one and able to have a reasonable thinking process.
Ya, it's a pretty well embedded item in Christianity to work and push for political policies that are consistent with the gospel message: social justice, equity, compassion; a System that works for people, not one that swallows up people to perpetuate itself. But that doesn't mean THEOCRACY. That sort of Christian myopia was a driving force particularly in the 19th century and into the early-mid 20th. Even long before, you have the (beautiful, rousing, inspiring) hymn, "Jerusalem," with lyrics provided by a Wm. Blake poem--- exemplifying the motivation behind all sorts of well-intentioned organizations and sodalities. "The New Jerusalem" is a symbol for a world with no poverty, with everyone's needs provided for, etc.
That hymn is based on the fantastical, apocryphal legend that Joseph of Arimathea accompanied the child Jesus on a tour of England. Yet the message is: Let there be peace and equity among all, and let everyone live a life of dignity. We all deserve it. Why? Because it is our mandate from a Higher Power, Creator, whichever term you prefer. *************************** Boebert's gospel is chauvinistic, exclusionary and just plain full of shrew shit. ****************************************** Careful: Loud start.
A more recent performance:
(The initial, useless "Britain's Got Talent" promo ditty is stoopidly loud, too.)
The county election official (Tina Peters) arrested as part of a voting equipment tampering scheme is in Boebert's Western CO district. (The Pillow Moron named Peters an election patriot, and she had a speaking role, when he had his "conference" to "prove" the 2020 election was stolen, during which no evidence of any kind was cited.) A friend drove through a chunk of that district in late June and reported that pro-Boebert signs were nauseatingly everywhere.
