Cyprus banks to remain shut until Tuesday

edited March 2013 in Off-Topic
Yikes. What if you needed money for something? Note protest sign in picture. Aphrodite is Greek mythological goddess of love - from which the English "aphrodisiac" is derived. (One angry woman there:-)

  • Hi Hank,

Recall back just after this occurred, the British gov't announced it was suspending all automatic pension deposits to Cyprus for British expats. Of what other arrangements they might have made I'm unaware but I thought it was a bold statement by Ma Britannia.

Actually, while I hate to the see people suffer, this is delightful to watch the cypriot politicians in this situation. If they share the burden with the common people, like they originally proposed, they're going to be burnt at the stake. However, the alternative is to place the entire burden on the russian deposters, at lot of whom are 'russian mafia'. Their only viable solution is to pimp the russina mafian out of about 20% of their money.

    Gee, that sounds like fun.

    peace,

  • Here you go. Seems the common folk are protected, uninsured depostors are screwed - not more than 40% at one bank and well and truly screwed at the other. teehehe '-)
