New variant in China

As the Delta variant of the coronavirus spreads in southeastern China, doctors say they are finding that the symptoms are different and more dangerous than those they saw when the initial version of the virus started spreading in late 2019 in the central city of Wuhan.

The Delta variant first emerged in India and now found in England, China and US. This mutated coronavirus is about 60% contagious with R0 about 1.6. It is becoming the dominant variant in US.

From the above article, Pfizer vaccine (presumably Moderna mRNA based vaccine) is still 88% effective against the Delta variant. When the boost shot is ready in fall, our family will be in line for it.
