U.S. Treasury “Real Yield Curve Rate” vs “Yield Curve Rate” ?

edited November 2020 in Other Investing
In checking yields on TIPS I come across various chart settings and 2 different stated yields on TIPS depending which setting is used.

Their default seems to be “Real Yield Curve Rate” which brings up negative yields pretty much across the maturity range.

But setting it to display “Yield Curve Rate” causes the yields to turn positive, albeit in very small measure.

Anybody understand what’s happening?

Note: I do understand that TIPS carry lower yields than comparable maturity Treasuries, and also know that it’s entirely possible for yields to go negative (reason I looked).
