A “trigger point” for electric cars will occur once they overtake gasoline-powered vehicles around 2030-2035, Zeng said. That view is more ambitious than that of researchers such as BNEF, which expects the shift to take place a few years later.

CATL, which is adding a production facility in Germany, is set to make more than 70% of batteries required by BMW, an early customer, Zeng said. CATL also works with Volkswagen’s Audi unit and is cooperating with Porsche, he said.

    I've been leaning toward innovative and clean technology companies since late last year coinciding with my bad feelings about investments in the fossil fuel area. I use a few ETF's but haven't gone crazy yet. I would love to jump on CATL but it doesn't appear to be listed on the American exchanges yet. Darn.

    Elon Musk was proactive and set up the GIGA FACTORY first & now working on TERA FACTORY. Are others working on it? Demand/Interest for/in EV is high but due to battery production limitations, it is not working for any other company. We HEAR so many announcements and NOT concrete date to production to delivery, it almost sounds like Hype. I am eagerly waiting for model Y with MILLION MILE battery. This is the only sure thing I see.
