FYI: Howard Marks, co-founder of Oaktree Capital Management, is known for his investing prowess and his prescient, easy-to-read market commentaries.

His investing success has made the 73-year-old New York native a billionaire. Oaktree Capital Management is one of the country’s biggest fund managers for distressed securities. Praised by investor Warren Buffett, Mr. Marks has written several books, including “Mastering the Market Cycle: Getting the Odds on Your Side,” published last year.

Mr. Marks recently spoke with The Wall Street Journal about financial markets and the economy.
