FYI: Don’t throw out the dirty water until you have clean water to replace it, goes an old saying. And you shouldn’t sell your stock until you have something better to replace it with.
This past week, investors appeared to know exactly where they wanted to move their money. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 119.17 points, or 0.4%, to 26,599.96, while the S&P 500 fell 0.3%, to 2941.76, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.3%, to 8006.24. The small-company Russell 2000 gained 1.1%, to 1566.57, however. Utilities, which had recently been among the market’s best performers, slumped 2.1%, while materials and financials each gained more than 1.5%.
