FYI: The last seconds of trading Friday will be some of the most frenzied of the year.
The closing bell of what would otherwise likely be a lazy summer Friday marks the culmination of the annual rebalancing of FTSE Russell’s widely followed equity indexes, when stocks are added to and dropped from Russell’s U.S. benchmarks.
There is about $9 trillion pegged to Russell’s U.S. indexes, and what is known as the Russell recon is often the busiest trading day of the year. During last year’s reconstitution, about $100 billion of individual stocks were traded in the final seconds of the day.
