The Breakfast Briefing: Global Stocks Waver After Wall Street Notches Fresh Record

FYI: Stock-index futures on Tuesday pointed to a mixed start for Wall Street as investors await the kickoff of a two-day Federal Reserve meeting and digest global economic data and a smorgasbord of corporate earnings, including disappointing results from the parent of internet search giant Google.
What are indexes doing?

Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average YMM9, +0.14% rose 62 points, or 0.2%, to 26,610, while S&P 500 futures ESM9, -0.12% added 0.60 point, or less than 0.1%, to 2,943.50. Nasdaq-100 futures NQM9, -0.36% were down 14.50 points, or 0.2%, at 7799.75.

The S&P 500 SPX, +0.11% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.19% each edged higher Monday to post record finishes. That followed on record closes from Friday and marked the first back-to-back set of all-time closing highs for both since August. The Dow DJIA, +0.04% also eked out a rise on Monday, gaining 11.06 points to finish around 1% below its all-time closing high of 26,828.39 set on Oct. 3.
