Pour One Out for the Fading American Beer Industry

FYI: U.S. drinkers ordering vodka sodas don’t want all the calories and carbs.

    My weekly consumption allocation:
    - Wine 40%
    - Scotch whisky 40%
    - Beer 20% or less

If those numbers pertain to the U.S. population, chalk up one more consumer / economic trend led by the now aging baby boomers. Suspect downing a case of brew isn’t as “hip” when you’re 70 as when you’re 25.

  • I drink mostly craft ales and beers, which are high in calories, but usually limit consumption to 1 a day. I also like bourbon, which is comparable to scotch or wine in calories. If I had to drink only mainstream beer, I would probably switch to bourbon, but I like the taste of craft brews enough to put up with the high calories and prices.
  • Past 70 and bathroom trips go up exponentially no matter what your preference is.
    I like it all!!
