The Closing Bell: U.S. Stocks Close Lower As Investors Wait For Next Steps On Trade
FYI: Major U.S. stock indexes edged slightly lower Tuesday, as investors balanced mixed corporate earnings and more messaging of paused interest-rate hikes from the Federal Reserve with ongoing U.S.-China trade negotiations.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 declined in the final hours of Tuesday’s trading session after wobbling most of the day.
The Dow industrials lost 33 points, or 0.13%, to 26057 after falling as much as 126 points earlier in the session. The S&P 500 fell 0.08%, while the Nasdaq Composite also gained 0.01%.
