A Tale of Two Value ETFs — And Why These Stocks Could Rebound: (IVE) - (RPV)

FYI: Funds with similar names can deliver very different returns. Factor ETFs, which select stocks based on particular characteristics, are no exception.

The iShares S&P 500 Value ETF (ticker: IVE) and Invesco S&P 500 Pure Value ETF (RPV) both tilt toward cheaper stocks in the S & P 500 index, and both use the exact same metrics when choosing stocks. However, a closer look at their performance might surprise you: In 2018 the Invesco Pure Value fund plunged 12.3%, while the iShares Value fund declined 9.2%, including reinvested dividends. This year, however, the Invesco Pure fund is beating the iShares Value, returning more than 15% to the iShares’ 12%.
