The Closing Bell: Dow Industrials Gain For The 9th Consecutive Week of Gains

FYI: U.S. stocks advanced Friday with major benchmarks on course to close out the week with gains amid continuing hopes for a trade deal between the U.S. and China.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 181points, or 0..70%, to 26032, bouncing back after sliding more than 100 points Thursday. The S&P 500 rose 0.64%, and the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite added 0.91%.

The Dow and Nasdaq, along with the small-cap Russell 2000, are all on pace to extend their winning streaks to nine consecutive weeks, while the S&P 500 is on course to tally gains for the fourth straight week.

All four indexes are up at least 11% for the year, largely thanks to signs of less aggressive Federal Reserve interest-rate policy and growing hopes that U.S. and Chinese negotiators are progressing toward signing a trade deal.

Nine of the eleven S&P 500 Sectors, led by Technology were in the green. Consumer Staples and Energy were the laggers.
Regards,
Ted
