The Breakfast Briefing: Global Stocks Waver As Trade Talks Resume
FYI: Global stocks were mixed on Tuesday as U.S.-China trade talks continued and investors awaited commentary from the Federal Reserve later in the week.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 was down 0.1% in morning trading. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei ticked up 0.1%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 0.4% and the Shanghai Stock Exchange gained 0.1%.
Futures pointed to a broadly flat opening for U.S. indexes after a market holiday on Monday.
Investors will be watching closely as U.S. and Chinese negotiators meet in Washington this week, with President Trump’s team striving to reach a deal that avoids a step up in tariffs on March 1. Regards, Ted
