Gundlach: My Marginal Tax Rate 52.6%, And It's 'Really Weird' That People Like Mitt Romney Pay 14%

FYI: Famed bond fund manager Jeffrey Gundlach said some high-net-worth individuals should be paying more in taxes. The rate he pays in taxes, however, is high enough as is, he said.

  • Gundlach compares his marginal rate with Romney's effective rate, which is taxes ÷ taxable income. In addition, Gundlach is comparing his federal plus state marginal rate (that's an extra 13.3%) with Romney's federal only effective rate.

I'm not suggesting that Romney paid "enough", merely that Gundlach is good at manipulating figures for his personal benefit. (No surprise there.)
