The Closing Bell: Stocks Climb With Tech, Transports Driving: Rut 2000 Up 1.3% : Third Gain In A Row
FYI U.S. stocks climbed Tuesday on signs the U.S. and China made progress during trade negotiations, giving traders a respite as tensions between the two countries have roiled global markets over the past few months.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 256 points, or 1.09%, to 23787. The S&P 500 added 0.97% and the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose 1.08%.
Ten of the 11 sectors in the S&P 500 advanced, led by gains among trade-sensitive industrial stocks that have exposure to the Chinese economy. Boeing and Caterpillar rose 2.2% and 1.8%, respectively. Financials were the only loser. Regards, Ted
