Going after Vanguard: Next major move in ETF fee war looks like it may go to JP Morgan

Key Points

J.P. Morgan has been increasing its focus on ETFs and has had several recent launches gathering billions from investors.
The bank now has filed for an ETF that will compete in the most important, and lowest-cost, asset class: core U.S. equity.
A report this week speculated the J.P. Morgan core U.S. equity ETF could be the first zero-fee ETF. One thing is for sure: It will need to be very low cost to be viable in a market where Vanguard, iShares and Schwab offer core U.S. equity funds for as low as four basis points.
