FYI: U.S. stocks recovered sharply Thursday as Fed. signals a slower move on rate increases.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 77 points, or .32%, to 24,947, while the S&P 500 lost .15%, pulling both indexes back into the red for the year. The Nasdaq Composite was positive by .42%.
All 30 stocks in the Dow industrials and seven sectors in the S&P 500 traded lower on the day. Caterpillar and Apple , which are sensitive to trade-related headlines, tumbled nearly 3%. And Chevron and Exxon slumped more than 2% as U.S. crude oil prices resumed their slide, falling 3.8%.
Thursday’s losses put the major indexes on course for their largest two-day point and percentage declines since Oct. 11.
Seven of the eleven S&P 500 Sectors lost ground, only Communication Services, Consumer Discretionary, Technology, and Real Estate was up.
