The Closing Bell: Wall Street Regains Stride After Two Weeks On Holiday Shopping Optimism

edited November 2018 in The Bullpen
FYI: U.S. stocks rallied Monday as oil prices and global equities gained ground on a day that is arguably one of the most important for retailers as shoppers go hunting for deals on Cyber Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 354 points, while the S&P 500 gained 1.5 percent. The Nasdaq Composite outperformed, rising 2.0 percent.

Shares of Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google-parent Alphabet all rose. Apple erased earlier gains, however, pulling the major indexes away from their session highs. These stocks dropped at least 3.6 percent last week, falling further into bear-market territory. The Invesco QQQ Trust, which tracks the Nasdaq 100 index, fell nearly 5 percent and saw more than $1 billion in outflows.

All eleven of the S&P 500 Sectors were in positives numbers for the day.
Regards,
Ted
