FYI: The Securities and Exchange Commission must take the lead in proposing—if not compelling—cooperation and new approaches to improve the accuracy and reliability of the U.S.’s outdated and expensive proxy voting system. That was the consensus of a roundtable held at the SEC’s Washington D.C. headquarters on Thursday. Without the agency’s active involvement, improvements will take much longer to implement, given that business interests may be threatened by change.
