The Closing Bell: S&P And Nasdaq Fall, Dow Has Small Gain
FYI: The S&P and Nasdaq fell while the Dow was slightly up on Thursday following big gains in the previous session as investors digested the latest monetary policy decision from the Federal Reserve.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped gained11 points as Caterpillar shares outperformed. The S&P 500 fell .25 percent, led lower by the energy sector. The Nasdaq Composite lagged, falling .53 percent as Qualcomm shares fell sharply.
The Fed kept interest rates unchanged, as was widely expected. However, the central bank said in a statement it expects “further gradual increases” in the overnight rate.
