FYI: So you’re feeling pretty good about your “60/40” portfolio these days. If you are like many investors who, on their own or at the suggestion of their financial advisor, have maintained a long-term asset allocation of 60% in stocks and 40% in bonds, life has been good. The stock portion of that portfolio is likely made up largely of U.S. stocks, and that U.S. stock section has probably been focused on investments in the S&P 500 Index. And, since the S&P 500’s past few years have gone according to the typical late-stage bull market script, the winning stocks of recent years keep going up.
