This Might Be The Riskiest Sector Of The U.S. Stock Market: (XLY)

FYI: The best U.S. stock-market sector of 2018 may also be the riskiest for investors looking to get in on a long-time winner.

The consumer-discretionary sector could be poised for a sharp retreat, according to Morgan Stanley, which described the industry — comprised of retailers, apparel companies and automakers — as “an early-cycle sector trading at peak valuations in a late-cycle environment.”

The sector XLY, +0.07% is the best performer over the past 12 months, a period in which it has gained 31.3%, or nearly twice the 16.3% advance of the S&P 500 SPX, +0.40% overall. Thus far in 2018, it is up 19.9%, slightly below the 20.4% rise of the technology XLK, +0.38% sector.
