New Research Finds Link Between Financial Status and Body Weight
Call it discriminatory if you want. But viewing a 30-minute regular Sunday morning financial infomercial (a solicitation for clients aired by a local peddler of annuities), one couldn’t help noticing that the “expert” speaking (Larry) was grossly overweight. It’s gotten so bad that he’s shed his normal button-down shirt and tie in favor of a tent-sized t-shirt under an unbuttoned coat. Clearly, Larry needs some help on the nutritional front. Being 5’10” and 300+ pounds isn’t normal - isn’t healthy. I muttered (no doubt unfairly) that this is the last person I’d want managing my money.
(1) Is there a link between body weight and financial well-being?
(2) If so, why?
(3) Would improving one’s nutritional management / weight also lead to improved financial well-being?
(4) Would the opposite also hold true?
Than there’s this reference to weight from Roman times:
“Let me have men about me that are fat, Sleek-headed men, and such as sleep a-nights. Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look. He thinks too much. Such men are dangerous” Julius Caesar
Yes - This is a slider. I like to think there’s a bit more room for these on weekends. And as @Anna observed in another thread, markets have been dull lately.
As one who spent many adult years overweight, I’ll note that getting weight / nutritional habits under control and developing sound financial practices seemed to be roughly correlated (happening around the same time). May be the exception.
If time, I think some of the 4 links are worth reading.
