The Closing Bell: U.S. Stocks Climb Record Performances For Dow & S&P 500

FYI: U.S. stocks rallied Thursday, with both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 climbing to records, following strong economic data, which helped alleviate concerns over escalating U.S.-China trade tensions.

The Dow Industrial Average was the last among Wall Street’s main indexes to regain record territory on Thursday, as investor concerns over U.S.-China trade spat cleared away and focus shifted to the strength of the economy.

The blue-chip index, which had lagged the Nasdaq and the S&P in its recovery, jumped 1 percent to surpass the level touched on January 26.

Ten of eleven S&P 500 Sectors, led by Technology, Consumer Staples, and Materials, had positive performances. Only Energy was just in the red.
