FYI: U.S. stocks extended losses Thursday, with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq turning solidly lower, as weak technology stocks again weighed on the broader market. The energy sector also fell sharply on the heels of a big decline in U.S. crude prices.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq saw sharp declines on Thursday as internet stocks faltered for a second day on concerns about increased regulation, while warnings from Micron Technology and KLA-Tencor led a slide in chip stocks.
Of the Eleven S&P 500 Sectors Consumer Staples, Healthcare, Industrials, Materials, Real Estate, and Utilities all were up. On the losing side were Communication Services, Consumer Discretionary, Energy, Financials and Technology.
