  • from the article - "Make no mistake, picking the best subadvisers is not easy, and many companies fail with the strategy. But the best practitioners have demonstrated a deft touch for carefully evaluating managers that can succeed over long periods"

Vanguard has had mixed success. They've done well with Wellington and Primecap, less so with others.
  • Thanks Ted. Good article. Interesting comparison between HABDX and PTTAX involving Mr. Gross and the attendant EP discount. Hey, you found an inefficiency in the fund market!

Collaborative funds, like the approach RiverNorth has taken with Mr. Gundlach on say RNSIX, is another way to leverage top managers from different firms.

I agree with Rbrt's comment about Vanguard. Both the Wellington funds I track, VWELX and VWINX, have superb long term records, skillfully negotiating 2008.
