Fund Files: Fidelity muni vet to retire; Guggenheim plots ultra-short fund

Long-time Fidelity municipal bond manager Mark Sommer is to retire at the end of 2018, after roughly 26 years with the firm.

Sommer is a currently a manager on 21 mutual funds, with a combined $29.5 billion in assets. He co-managed all these funds with Kevin Ramundo and Cormac Cullen.

The funds include 12 state-oriented municipal bond funds, including the $2.1 Fidelity Massachusetts Municipal Income fund, the 1.9 billion Fidelity California Municipal Income fund and the $1.7 billion Fidelity New York Municipal Income fund, in addition to four target maturity municipal bond funds and a slew of other muni mandates.
