FYI: Eddie Yoon spent his college years studying premed and playing golf at Brown University. But Yoon, now 38, didn’t love the long hours of the chemistry lab, where, he says, the “smells weren’t great.” And after four years of varsity golf, he decided that life on the pro tour “would have been too stressful.”
Yoon swapped the pressure of the putting green for the stress of picking health-care stocks at Fidelity. Joining the firm as an analyst in 2006, he rose quickly, becoming portfolio manager of Fidelity Select Medical Technology and Devices Portfolio (ticker: FSMEX) in 2007 and Fidelity Select Health Care Portfolio (FSPHX) in 2008. He still runs both funds and leads the firm’s health-care coverage with a team of 12 investment professionals, overseeing more than $35 billion in assets.

Ted
