FYI: On this final day of April, it’s hard not to note the month’s large number of closures and relatively small amount of launches. April saw 55 ETFs taken off the market, which blows past the previous record of 42 closures in September 2017, and just a baker’s dozen of new funds launched. Funds and ETFs prefer to launch by Dec 31, March 31, June 30, and Sept 30. That allows them to have full-quarter results to report. There's a sag in launches just after those dates.
Consistent with that pattern, there are a lot of new funds in registration this month, all of which hope to launch by June 30.
