Lipper: The Month In Closed-End Funds: March 2018

FYI: For the second month in a row equity CEFs on average witnessed a negative return on
a NAV basis and a market basis, losing 1.15% and 1.86%, respectively, for March. For the
first month in three their fixed income CEF counterparts posted a plus-side return on
a NAV basis (+0.26%), but for the third consecutive month on a market basis (-0.17%)
they were in the red. Investors continued to be hobbled by fears of inflation, trade wars,
a breach of trust by Facebook, and staff changes in the White House. The Dow Jones
Industrial Average Price Only Index posted its second monthly loss—declining 3.70%
for March. On the bright side, the Russell 2000 Price Only Index posted a return in the
black, chalking up 1.12% for March
