FYI: Richard Band is retiring just when we may need him most. For those of you who don’t know him, Band has for 28 years been the editor of the Profitable Investing advisory newsletter. His niche has been low-risk strategies for the long term, and he has delivered: Since 1991, which is when my Hulbert Financial Digest began tracking him, his model portfolios on average have been 36% less volatile, or risky, than the stock market as a whole.
