Would someone please give me their considered opinion regarding PIMCO CEFs with a market value <1billion, such as PHK, PCM, PKO, PCN. For some reason I find no coverage of these funds on MFO or Morningstar. What gives? Thanks.
Generally cefs are a niche investment aimed at individuals looking for income. They aren't in the media much because they are too small to draw institutional money. Also they are an older type of investment vehicle. I.e. they are a bit out of favor because of higher fees and less transparency (compared to ETFs generally speaking). That being said their are some decent ones and pimco is a pretty good shop for them.
