After a record-breaking 12 months, the FTSE 100 index of leading British shares is on course to deliver bumper payouts to shareholders.
Analysts expect dividends to rise to £88.5bn in 2018, a 7pc increase on the final forecast payout for 2017. That would mark the eighth consecutive year of dividend growth in the blue-chip index, from a low of £46.1bn in 2010.
